“DRAWiNGS FOR YOU TO FiNiSH.”

An ongoing project in which I bring unfinished drawings and art-supplies to galleries with the hope that attendees will complete them. Typically by the end of the opening, we produce a body of collaborative work which is then displayed for the duration of the exhibit. Regardless of skill-level, participants can claim they’ve had their drawing displayed in a gallery. Below are some grainy and poorly framed photos from some of the events that happened around the years 2011-2013.

Art Vandelay

During one of the events, someone decided to write “Art Vandelay” all over a bunch of the unfinished drawings…an act of rebellion or spite I’m sure.

Initially I was hurt and angry when it happened, since I spent a significant amount of time meticulously inking these drawings with a paintbrush.

In hindsight I realize whoever did this needed to get something out of their system and hopefully they got what they needed out of it.

I see this collection of collaborative drawings as a portrait of our collective psychology at that time, Art Vandelay included.
